Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA)
All employers in South Africa who employ one or more workers must register with the Compensation Fund (Department of Labour) under COIDA.
Why it matters
If an employee is injured at work, COIDA covers their medical expenses and compensation. Without registration, the employer is personally liable.
